In 2015, Vectioneer undertook the challenging task of upgrading the control systems for three large Servo-Hydraulic Motion Systems used in Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainers (CEET) at Lufthansa Flight Training in Frankfurt. These systems play a crucial role in simulating real-life emergency evacuations, providing highly dynamic and realistic training scenarios for flight attendants. The project involved the installation and configuration of an advanced control system that could manage the motion dynamics of the simulation equipment with precision.
The setup consisted of four interconnected controllers, forming a network that worked seamlessly together. A Hydraulic Management Unit (HMU) was responsible for controlling three Hydraulic Power Units, which, in turn, provided hydraulic pressure to a ring line that powered the motion systems. Each Motion System was independently controlled by its own controller, which could request hydraulic power from the HMU to ensure dynamic and responsive motion. This level of control was critical to replicating the heavy turbulence scenarios experienced by flight attendants during training.

Installation and Configuration Hydraulic Motion Control
The Motion Systems, built by Bosch Rexroth, are the largest of their kind in the world and offer highly dynamic movement capabilities. The most impressive system is designed to move a 55-ton payload, simulating the interior of a two-story Boeing 747 cabin. With the ability to accelerate at up to 1 G, the motion systems provide an realistic experience, allowing flight attendants to feel as if they are experiencing actual turbulence, even lifting off the floor. As an added feature, Vectioneer also developed a custom application that synchronized music with the motion systems, enhancing the immersive experience. The motion was carefully choreographed using Vectioneer’s in-house developed Motion Editor, allowing precise synchronization with music or video files for an engaging training environment.
